Mountain Walking

Some of the most beautiful, challenging, remote and exciting mountains in Scotland are found in Wester Ross. An Teallach, Liathach, Beinn Eighe, Sgurr Mor, Beinn Dearg and Slioch are just some of the famous higher peaks in the area.

Many others are just as spectacular – but take more planning to reach because of their remoteness. Days on these remote hills are among the most memorable. The combination of wilderness country, coastal scenery and steep mountain buttresses and pinnacles make mountain days in Wester Ross unique. There are classic long ridge walks, too, that can be enjoyed without the need for scrambling. For example - the beautiful hills of Coigach near Ullapool (see picture below) and the spectacular Slioch that sits on the north bank of Loch Maree.

If you are looking for a great mountain day out, but something less strenuous, then there are several walks in the area that are ideal. Most of these smaller hills are near the road, are usually on good paths and don't require long walk-ins. Summits such as Beinn Ghobhlach and Beinn Airigh Charr boast tremendous views and are great family days out.

You may need a guide for a route on a specific peak or you may want to visit several mountain ranges over a few days. Whatever your ambitions are - contact us and we will plan a guided mountain walking day to suit you.
